TAMU PD Officer recognized as 2015 Texas Alive Team’s Instructor of the Year
On February 29, 2016, at the Texas Alive Team annual meeting in Austin, Texas, Texas A&M University Police (UPD) Master Police Officer Kristi Hosea was recognized as the “2015 Texas Alive Team’s Instructor of the Year.”
Officer Hosea has served as an "Alive at 25" defensive driving instructor through the Texas Alive Team since 2014. Since that time, she has diligently worked to promote the program throughout the local community and has taught 36 classes attended by 629 participants including over 400 Texas A&M University students.
The "Alive at 25" program is a comprehensive 4-hour defensive driving class for drivers under the age of 25. The program was developed by the National Safety Council and is taught nationwide. Alive at 25 focuses on teaching young drivers important decision-making skills for staying safe on our nation’s roadways.
The Texas Alive Team is a non-profit multi-agency team of law enforcement professionals dedicated to saving lives through education. Their goal is to empower young drivers to adopt safer driving habits, as well as reduce injury and death of youth on Texas roadways.
Officer Hosea is a 1987 graduate of Texas A&M University. She began her career with the UPD in 1993 and has served in the department’s Crime Prevention Unit since 2005.
