Lubbock Christian University Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, Ray Scifres, a retired Hockley County Sheriff, made the following request of TACUPA’s membership:
“I am supervising an honors student's research project tentatively titled, ‘Law Enforcement Officers’ Perception of the Reasonable Suspicion Requirements.’ We are hoping to get roughly 250-300 responses state-wide.” Survey details include:
Survey respondents must be currently working licensed peace officers and first-line supervisors - no administrators.
The survey is completely anonymous, and does not collect any personally identifying information such as agency, name, DOB, etc. Basic demographic data (age range, gender, education level, years of experience) is requested. Responses are stored securely, no one will have access to any raw data other than Professor Scifres, who cannot identify the respondents.
The survey is accessed via the secure link below, which does not record IP data.
The survey will take an estimated 5-10 minutes in total to complete.
There is no compensation for participating.
Survey participation is completely voluntary.
The survey is designed to capture peace officer perceptions of the reasonable suspicion standard and its application in current policing.
Please consider helping with this worthy endeavor and share it with your colleagues.
