Campus Safety magazine announced on July 19, 2018, that University of North Texas Police Chief Ed Reynolds was selected to receive the Award for Director of the Year - Higher Education. His highlighted accomplishments include: helping to develop policies and procedures in response to passage of Texas' campus carry law, emphasizing recruitment and raising pay levels to attract the best candidates, and establishing Pizza with Police events to help foster good relations with students.
