Texas A&M UPD Asst. Chief Johnson graduates from LEMIT


The Texas A&M University Police Department is proud to announce that Asst. J. Michael Johnson graduated from the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College on August 14, 2015.

The 9 week Leadership Command College (LCC) is the most comprehensive program offered by the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT). LCC is designed to provide law enfo...rcement executives with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful leadership in a modern law enforcement agency.

The instructional curriculum is a careful balance of proven management practice and sound academic research. The curriculum is divided into three broad content areas: Leadership and General Management Principles; Political, Legal and Social Environment of Law Enforcement; and Law Enforcement Administration.

LCC, is produced through a consortium of three state universities, each focusing on their individual strengths. Texas A&M University (TAMU), through the Center for Executive Development in the Mays Business School, is nationally recognized for its executive development programs and is responsible for the management and communications blocks of instruction. Texas Woman’s University (TWU), through the Department of History and Government, is responsible for instruction on social and governmental issues. There is also an emphasis on executive health and wellness. Sam Houston State University (SHSU), which houses the nation’s largest criminal justice educational facility, focuses strongly on law enforcement administration issues and advanced technical programs and strategies.
