Chief Hector Flores (Lamar University)

My name is Hector A. Flores, I am currently the Chief of Police for Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas.  Prior to working for Lamar University, I was the lieutenant and acting Assistant Chief over field operations at The University of Texas – Pan American, Edinburg, Texas.  I began my law enforcement career on the South Texas border, at the City of Mission, serving as a patrol supervisor and SWAT team member.  I also served my country in the United States Marine Corps, deploying to Iraq in 2003 with the 1st Marine Division, and attaining the rank of sergeant.

I am seeking the position of 2nd Vice President with the Texas Association of College and University Police Administrators (TACUPA).  In 2016, I served on the TACUPA Board of Directors as a member-at-large.   The duties of the 2nd VP include membership development, which I am very interested in doing, and have done since joining TACUPA.  I am eager to recruit new members to our organization, and develop innovative ways of reaching our colleagues in higher education who have not yet joined.  Furthermore, I would like to develop our existing membership resources through technology –facilitating our ability reach out across the State of Texas.

Thank you for the consideration.
